Esmee Brugts and Jill Roord scored two goals, leading Germany to their biggest ever win at the Women’s World Cup, beating Morocco 6-0.
Vietnam was under pressure from the start as the Netherlands fired 42 shots in 90 minutes.
Lieke Martens scored her first goal with a lob, passing Vietnamese goalkeeper Thi Kim Thanh Tran in the eight minutes of the match.
Striker Katja Snoeijs made the situation 2-0 with a pass from Tran three minutes later.
After Brutz scored a fantastic third goal, Ruud volleyed diagonally and scored her first goal in the 23rd minute. In the first half, Tran made a great save to block Roud’s shot, but midfielder Danielle van der Donk made the score 5-0 with an attack from behind the sound at halftime.
Thi Hang Khong replaced Tran in the second half of Vietnam’s goal, while 17-year-old Wieke Kaptein made her third game for the Netherlands.
Brutz scored again from outside the penalty area, her heavy shot into the corner left Kong in no time.
Martens’ goal was considered offside by the VAR and then Ruud scored her seventh goal with seven minutes left.
