Chris Bart-Williams, head coach in the United States, died in the United States at the age of 49. The former midfielder died the same day as Sheffield Wednesday manager Trevor Francis. Bart Williams has also played for Nottingham Forest, Leyton Orient, Charlton, and Ipswich Town.
Sheffield Wednesday announced that former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest midfielder Chris Butt-Williams has died at the age of 49.
Chris Bart-Williams grew up in London and represented England at U21 level before moving to City Stadium for £2.5m in July 1995.
Won the First Division title with Forest in 1997/98 and, although playing mostly as a defensive midfielder, was the club’s top scorer and player in 2000/01. Chris Bart-Williams played 248 games for Forest before ending his career in Cyprus and Malta, before spells at Charlton and Ipswich Town.
He then began his coaching career in the United States, starting with women’s college football.
Chris Bart-Williams, who describes himself as a “coach, collegiate, former football player” on his social media accounts, is the owner and CEO of CBW Soccer Elite, an American college football agency that works with college freshmen.
Last February, Dade County, Florida, announced the appointment of Bart Williams as athletic director.
Devastated by the news of his former teammate Mark Crossley’s death. The actor, who plays alongside Bart Williams on The Forest, wrote on Twitter: “Trevor Francis and my old friend Chris Butt Williams are both young and sad, so sad to hear the news of RIP Trevor and Chris. “Blues, always Blues.”
